Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to Oro-Medonte Minor Soccer (OMMS)! We are happy to have your children join us for another great season! Our 1st game will be May 16th, 2012. The coaches clinic will be held on May 9th at the Guthrie Arena.
What's New in 2012??
AGES
We continue to open the league to children who turn 4 by the end of the year...but this year we have also expanded to include children who are 15 by the year's end to help increase our player numbers in the older divisions. This means that children born in 1997 can still play with our league!
DIVISION RESTRUCTURING
To align with structuring practices in other leagues, we have renamed and restructured our divisions. This also makes things easier for us in the background as well. Namely the U13 (D division) now spans 3 years and the U16 (E division) was expanded to include an older year. The U means "Under" and the number represents the age...so U6 means children UNDER 6.
Here is how it works out for 2012:
U6 was A division children born in 2008, 2007
U8 was B division children born in 2006, 2005
U10 was C division children born in 2004, 2003
U13 was D division children born in 2000, 2001, 2002
U16 was E division children born in 1999, 1998 and 1997

COACHES
We need coaches to help us out! You do not need to be a Pele or a Beckham, or have any previous experience. We have a Coaches Clinic to help you. You don’t have to attend every game, we know there are vacations and other things that arise, but we do need enthusiastic people who are willing to come to the coaches clinic and attend as many games as possible. Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles etc, make great coaches too! We are getting rid of the “Head and Assistant” coach titles, we are simply looking for a coaching team. We need 2 coaches per team, please register as a volunteer coach today on the Registration page!
THE GAMES
Games are located at Burl’s Creek Event Park, located at Hwy 11 and Line 8. Please follow driveway on and you will see where to park.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
We play rain or shine, as make up dates are not possible due to the Burl’s Creek Event schedule. As weather varies widely in Oro-Medonte, we will not call the game until we get to the field.
In the event that stormy weather should arise after you have arrived at the field, you will hear a horn. When the horn sounds you are required to evacuate the field immediately. Should you be separated from your child, the meeting place is at the pizza place. A board member will be on hand for any children there.
We do our best to ensure everyone’s safety, but we also recognize that everyone has individual needs or limits. We will play in the rain/cold and hot/humid. In the end, you know your child best and it is your responsibility to make sure they are prepared for the weather conditions. At no time should any coach, parent or player play soccer if they feel it is unsafe for them to do so. The decision as to whether you or your child plays or not, is left up to you.
LOST CHILD & SAFETY EVACUATION POLICY
We have a written policy for this. It is located on this site under the "Policies" tab. It will also be handed to you by your coaches, it is also available on our Facebook Fan page and if you would like it e-mailed to you, please contact me at kristiandcolin@rogers.com and I will be happy to send it to you. It is VERY important that you become familiar with this policy for your families safety.
It should be noted that it is every parent’s responsibility to know the whereabouts of their children and to ensure their child’s safety while at the field. It is strongly recommended that the family assign a responsible person to their children’s fields if they themselves, cannot be present. If a parent does not do this, it is at their own risk. At no time, is a parent/guardian to leave Burl’s Creek Family Event Park while their child is playing soccer. Every child MUST be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for that child. If a child is left unaccompanied with no adult in the park, proper authorities will be notified. Your child’s safety is of the utmost importance. If a child is found with no responsible guardian at the field in the event of an emergency evacuation, OMMS reserves the right to have an OMMS board member remove that child from the field to get to a safe location outside the park if necessary. The OPP Rose St. detachment in Barrie will be notified as soon as possible of the child’s location and parents should contact them at 705-726-6484.
BBQ & ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Our BBQ will be held on August 1, 2012 from 5-8 at Burls Creek Event Park soccer fields. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend! You won’t want to miss it, visit the BBQ page for more info!
The AGM is a time for you to get involved, please come out and be a part of your child’s soccer experience! The AGM will be held in September 2011 date TBA. We hope you attend.
PICTURE DAY
Will be held June 13 and 20th. Please make sure that your child is in their uniform, the coaches will be notified as to the time and the teams will be escorted to the photographer at their allotted times. If you are not present on picture day you may contact the photographer directly for a picture to be taken at the studio. Team photos cannot be retaken. Photos will be handed out with medals at the last game in a small presentation by coaches. They will then be available again for pick up at the BBQ and the last reamaining medals and photos can be picked up at the AGM in September, after that they will no longer be available for pick up.
